Here It Is - The Endurance 3120

Our wind turbine is an Enducarnce E3120, which is designed for larger fars, schools, and small industries. It will make a significant contribution to the energy needs of the Inn, and we're aniticipating that there will be times during the year when we'll be feeding into, rather than off of, the grid. The 3120, by the way, is the area, in square feet, of the sweep of the blades. The standard height for one of these is 100 feet. We'll be going a little higher...120 feet...to, as the song goes, "try and catch the wind." All told, from ground to the tip of a turbine blade at the top of its rotation, the turbine should be just under 160 feet tall.

This is a new design...state of the art...and ours will be the second installed in the United States. We believe it will make us the proud owners of the largest privately-owned turbine in America. So far, we haven't discovered any information to dispute that, though we'd love to hear from anyone who knows different.

Inner workings of the turbine

You can see a complete set of specs over at the Endurance Web site.

The E3120 includes a Web-based monitoring system which we'll be featuring on the site once we're up and running.

We've listed some of the specs for the turbine below. We're certainly hoping we never have to deal with wind speeds above 116 mph...the turbine would be the least of our worries if that every happened in Wisconsin!
